A true-DIY system ships its line set factory pre-charged with refrigerant and terminated in quick-connect fittings: you tighten fittings, and the refrigerant circuit is complete - no vacuum pump, no gauges, no flare tool. A 'DIY-friendly' flare system ships a pre-charged condenser but a standard line set you must cut, flare, pressure-test, and evacuate before opening the valves. Both are sold with DIY in the headline. Why the distinction is worth money
